Supplications after concluding the prayer

Thauban (Radi Allah Anhu) reported:
Whenever the Messenger of Allah

(Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) concluded his prayer,

he would beg forgiveness from Allah thrice

and then would recite:

"Allahumma Antas-Salamu, wa minkas-salamu,

tabarakta ya Dhal-Jalali wal-Ikram"
("O Allah, You are the Grantor of security,

and security comes from You.

You are Blessing,

O You Who have majesty and nobility!'')
(Imam) Al-Awza`i, one of the narrators of this Hadith, was asked:

"How forgiveness is to be sought?''

He answered:

"The Messenger of Allah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) used to say:

'Astaghfirullah! Astaghfirullah! '
(I beseech Allah for forgiveness, I beseech Allah for forgiveness) '.''
[Muslim].

Hadith: The better of the two is one who greets first..

Abu Ayyub Al-Ansari (May Allah be pleased with him) said:

The Messenger of Allah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said,

"It is not lawful for a Muslim to desert (stop talking to)

his brother beyond three nights,

the one turning one way and the other turning

to the other way when they meet,

the better of the two is one

who is the first to greet the other.''

[Al-Bukhari and Muslim].

Commentary:

1. Since Islam is a religion based on the nature of man, it has a

suitable concession in all his natural affairs. When there occurs

a dispute between two Muslims then unpleasantness and contraction

of mind are bound to result from it. In such a situation they

naturally do not like to speak or maintain contact with each other.

Islamic Shari`ah has acknowledged the validity of this reaction

and granted permission to the party to suspend speech for three days.

Since longevity of suspension of contact leads to severe hatred and

animosity which increases dissension in society, creates obstruction

in family relations and injures the bond of friendship, Muslims have

been ordered not to let this temporary unpleasantness

and turbidity go beyond a period of three days.

2. By highlighting the merit of Salam (salutation), this Hadith has

prescribed an easy way for resuming the relations because Salam increases

mutual love and paves the way for conversation and reconciliation.

Hadith:Show mercy to others

Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (RadhiAllaho anho) reported:

The Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) kissed
his grandson Hasan bin `Ali (Alaihi Wasallam)
in the presence of Aqra` bin Habis. (RadhiAllaho anho)

Thereupon Aqra`(RadhiAllaho anho) remarked:
"I have ten children and I have never kissed any one of them.''

The Messenger of Allah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam)

"Cast a glance upon him and said,
"He who does not show mercy to others,
will not be shown mercy.''
[Al-Bukhari and Muslim].

Commentary:

This Hadith has already been placed earlier.
To pamper and kiss children is an expression of compassion
and kindness.

One who lacks this tender quality and fails to behave
kind-heatedly towards people, may be deprived of Divine mercy.

The Messenger of Allah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) has said,
"Have compassion for others, ALLAH, Subhanahu wa ta'ala,
will have mercy on you.''

On another occasion the Messenger of Allah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said,
"Be merciful to others and Allah ALLAH, Subhanahu wa ta'ala,
will have mercy on you, and forgive (others), you will be forgiven.'

Hadith: First 10 days of the month of Dhul-Hijjah

Ibn `Abbas (May Allah be pleased with them) reported:

The Messenger of Allah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said,

"There are no days during which the righteous action is

so pleasing to Allah than these days

(i.e., the first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah).''

He (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) was asked:
"O Messenger of Allah, (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam)
not even Jihad in the Cause of Allah?''

He (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) replied,
"Not even Jihad in the Cause of Allah,
except in case one goes forth with his life and his property
and does not return with either of it.''

[Al-Bukhari].

Commentary:

This Hadith brings out the following two points:

1. Righteous deeds during the first ten days of the month of Dhul-Hijjah
are far better and more rewarding than righteous deeds done on other days
of the year, because they are Hajj days in the sacred season of pilgrimage.
Because of their excellence and importance, Allah (SWT) swore by them, thus:
"By the Dawn; by the ten Nights...'' (89:1,2)

2. Jihad has great eminence in Islam.

Hadith: When a Person strives to get closer to Allah

                                              Abu Hurairah Radiyallahu anhu reports

that Nabi Sallallahu alaihi wasallam in a Hadith Qudsi
narratedthat Allah Ta'ala says:
I treat My slaves according to his expectations from Me.
I am with him when he remembers Me;
and if he remembers Me in his heart,

I remember him in My heart;
and if he remembers Me in a gathering,
I remember him in a better and nobler gathering (of angels).
If he comes closer to Me by one span,
I go closer to him an arm's length;
if he comes towards Me an arm's length,
I go towards him two-arm's length;
and if he comes to Me walking,
I run to him.

(Bukhari)

Note:
When a person strives to get closer to Allah through good deeds,
then Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala turns towards His slave with much
more attention, mercy and help.

Hadith: Fundamentals of Deen

Sayyiduna Abu Razin (RadhiAllaho anho) narrates
that Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said:

Should I not guide you to the fundamentals of Deen
by which you will obtain
the best of this world and the Hereafter?
Make it incumbent upon yourself to frequent
the gatherings of those who engage in Dhikr.
And when you are alone,
engage your tongue in the remembrance of
Allah as much as you can.
